Lost Tv Show - Why Watch Lost?
by Richard Sharp
For those of you that have not started watching lost yet, here is a brief overview of the story line of the cult TV show.
The survivors of a plane crash must work together to stay alive, they find shelter, food and start to build relationships with each other. The plane and all its surviving occupants had lost communication and were 1000 miles off course when it went down, so it is highly unlikely that they will be rescued any time soon. They are forced to deal with their inner demons, each other, and an island that turns up mystery after mystery.
The show is now on its third season (as of January 2007) and is going from strength to strength. Many characters have developed into household favourites and the story lines are still exciting, mind boggling and as interesting as ever. So why should you start watching lost? Here are some of the reasons that we can think of:
Everybody is talking about Lost and you soon will be too: It was one of the most popular TV shows of the 2004 season and 20 million viewers tuned in for the premiere of the second season. The third season is going from strength to strength and is due to continue to air in February 2007.
Edge-of-your-seat storylines: When one mysterious story line is solved, another, even bigger mystery comes is unfolded. Lost includes lots of drama, along with humour, plenty of action and edge of your seat, nail biting, cliff hangers.
Exciting characters: We get to learn about the lives of the 14 main characters, through flashbacks, but we only get bits and pieces at a time, making figuring out the characters a fun challenge. The episodes are usually focused on one characters flash backs per episode which runs along side their current activities on the island.
Mystery and suspense: Lost has more mystery than any drama we have ever watched. The island mysteries have us fascinated and in wonder. We have seen polar bears on this supposedly tropical island, an unseen force, black smoke, hatches and bunkers, and other people that were not on the plane. The biggest mystery of all is a string of numbers, 4 8 15 16 23 42, that seem to keep showing up. The third series has lots more mystery to offer as some of the characters have been taken to a second island by the others. The story lines are still mysterious and will keep you guessing and in suspense.
Interconnected characters: Many of the characters are interconnected in ways they do not even realise. While watching a flashback, we often see other main or secondary characters directly or indirectly involved with the flashback character. This could be a significant factor, but as yet there has been little indication of the importance, we will watch this space!
