With a script in the works, it looks like there may be a big screen debut on the way. Learn more about this possible future blockbuster.

by Kyle Newton
In June of 2004 a comedy show entitled Arrested Development was broadcast on the Fox network. The show was done in a mock documentary format, very similar to the show The Office, and followed the lives of the members of the fictional Bluth family, who lead excessive lifestyles well beyond their actual financial means.

The family is selfish, greedy, overly materialistic, vain, underhanded, sneaky, and deceptive and yet the audience cannot help themselves but fall in love with them. In fact there are only two exceptions to the characteristics of the family, and that is in the main character of Michael Bluth (played by Jason Bateman) and his son George Michael (played by Michael Cera) who both care for their family's well being despite their ways.

The driving force in the show was more often than not attempts by Michael to control the family business and get his father Michael Bluth Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor) out of jail from charges ranging from tax evasion, embezzlement, and even light treason. Other stories revolve around Michael trying to keep his family as close to normal as they can possibly be.

George Michael is struggling with an attraction to his cousin Maeby (Alia Shawkat) who is not his biological cousin, Michael's brother G.O.B. (which stands for George Oscar Bluth II and played by Will Arnett) who is a scheming magician who rarely succeeds. The show's most prominent stories were the ones that made the audience question why Michael would put up with his family.

The show, however, ended in 2006 with an episode that showed Michael and George Michael letting their family fend for themselves for once. The ending of the show came as the series was starting to gain a major cult following due to the outrageousness of the characters reactions to the very serious situations around them.

The show was also notable for featuring many talented actors such as Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor (who played two roles), Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, David Cross, Jessica Walter, and uncredited narration from Ron Howard (who is also a producer on the show).

While many fans were disappointed by the cancellation, on February 2nd, news broke that Mitchell Hurwitz is working on a script for a film version of the series. This has led to major buzz as the actors have already been called about the film, which will supposedly wrap up the series and is expected to have major cameos as the series itself did.

Lots of singles fall in with the expectation that their beloved is going to love them back...somehow, some way, someday. When it doesn't happen they vow to love even harder, and ultimately in more pain. So you don't waste your time, let's explore why some people are afraid to fall in love.

by Deborrah Cooper
Over and over again stories pour into advice columns from brokenhearted people madly in love with partners that refuse to love them back. Why are some people afraid to let go and fall in love?

Fear.

Some of the reasons people have given for succumbing to fear of love are:

o I've had a bad marriage and a crazy divorce, and don't ever want to be hurt again.

o I've had so many bad relationships and been rejected so many times in the past that I don't want to take that chance again!

o Why bother? It won't last anyway! Fifty percent of all marriages end in divorce. I've never even seen a good marriage, so forget it.

o Sooner or later THEY always dog you out and cheat on you…I'm not going to open myself up for that mess!

o I don't want anybody to have that kind of power over me and my happiness. I'm fine all by myself!

o Being in love makes you act like a fool, just stupid. I don't want to behave like that ever again. I was totally out of control.

o Love = marriage cooking cleaning bills and responsibility. That's just not for me!

o Being in love makes me feel too dependent and needy and joined at the hip.

o All I want is some sex! Stick and move, stick and move. So many desperate women out here… I don't need to be in love for that.

o I'd lose my sense of self and independence, and I don't want anybody telling me what to do or asking me any questions about where I'm going either!

How to Handle Those Relationship Fears

Psychologists say that we are all motivated to act or react in one of two ways: by the desire FOR something (pleasure seekers), or by the FEAR OF something (pain avoiders). For pain avoiders, the desire for the experience of a happy, caring relationship is overshadowed by the overwhelming need to avoid pain.

The ten response examples above demonstrate that a fear avoider (playing it safe to avoid the possibility of imagined pain), will guarantee him or herself a completely loveless life. Loving takes courage and a willingness to risk heartbreak and failure to achieve the glorious relationship of your dreams.

Keep in mind that many people are just as afraid of success as they are of failure. Watch out for those whose lives are ruled by fear. If your partner does not have the courage to step forward and take an emotional risk just as you are, the stage is set for an unsatisfying uphill battle.

A few of you might actually win given enough time and energy. Others will come to see that after years of trying to gain your partners trust, all you have to show for your devotion is exhaustion and bitter disappointment.

Fear is a real killer of opportunity, success and love. Fearful people play it safe and never take chances or assume risks. Your quest to convince him or her to change, to trust, and give love a chance with you may be honorable.

But until your partner rallies enough self-determination to conquer his or her fears, s/he will never advance in intimacy skills beyond their present level. Flatly, you can give and give in the hopes that love will conquer all, but it rarely does.

Though the odds are definitely not on your side, if you are willing to take that gamble, so be it. However, if you want a truly intimate relationship, why waste your time chasing someone or begging them to give you and your love a chance? Why not put your energies instead into someone who comes right out and says "yes, I've been hurt before, but I want to love again, and I'm ready."

Why not spend that energy on someone willing to open their heart, mind and spirit, and courageously take a chance at love right along with you?

by Ed Wildman
Are you single and searching for Mr. or Miss Right? Or are you just looking for someone special to share good times with? If you are tired of the singles scene, the nightlife, the clubs or the awkward workplace relationships, you don't have to keep going out and searching for a good relationship. You don't even need to leave your house searching for your significant other anymore. With free dating sites, you can be matched up with hundreds of available people with similar interests and goals.

You start by creating a personal profile. You write a short autobiography. Next you submit whatever photos best represent you. Then you list important details about your life, such as hobbies, occupation and religion. From here you'll be linked to others who share common interests and goals.

Every free dating site is different. The basic information you provide will always include your sex and your sexual orientation. Free dating sites also ask you where you live. You are given the option of providing your city and state or just your ZIP code. This helps the site connect you with people in your area, if you're looking for someone nearby.

Of course, sometime people want a complete change. Because of free dating sites, long distance relationships have become even more popular. The ease of online communication enables couples to have meaningful relationships without hefty long distance phone charges. The privacy afforded by online messages is also something that couples appreciate. Instead of a nosy roommate listening in on the other line, you can trade messages on a free dating site. Since you are the only person who knows your password, that roommate will have to be nosy somewhere else.

One of the great things about free dating sites is that you're able to browse profiles before you join, but you may not be able to see everything about each person. The level of privacy depends on the site you're using. Some will not let you see anything about a profile, including name and pictures, unless you become a member. Some will let you see the name and picture on the profile, but no personal information. This level of privacy is entirely up to you when you join a free dating site.

This brings up one important point about free dating sites. Don't put too much personal information online. Don't list your address or phone number. Don't list your Social Security number. Even with privacy features and passwords, it's a dangerous idea to list these facts. If you meet someone online and have had some meaningful exchanges with them, consider giving out your number. Don't do it before then.

Free dating sites are a marvelous way to meet new people. Even if you don't find your soul mate right away, you'll still have a chance to make some great new friends. And who knows? Maybe one of those friends will transform into that special someone right before your eyes. Dating sites are just a great place to connect.

Some pick up lines can actually attract a woman. If they make her laugh, then she'll find you interesting. In this article, you'll learn about an effective way to use corny pick up lines.

by Scott Patterson
Every man knows how intimidating it can be to start up a conversation with a beautiful woman. She's surrounded by a group of her friends and you're left to your own devices to come up with the right thing to say to her.
It's unfortunate that you decide to follow your buddies' suggestion and use a corny pick up line to get her attention.

And just like clockwork, she walks away from you in disgust immediately after you speak these words.

You know you missed out because you chose such a fake approach.

The dilemma with using corny pick up lines is that they're never effective. If you're serious about winning her over, you should use a more genuine technique.

Rather than using corny pick up lines, think of original things to say to her. There are several techniques you can use to get her interested without sounding contrived or over-the-top:

1) Situational conversation starter-

Take advantage of your surroundings. If you happen to see something strange or comical, you can use it as an opportunity to approach a woman who also witnessed the event. By cracking a joke or making a witty remark about the situation, you'll immediately have something to laugh about together.

2) Just act normally-

Walking right up to an attractive woman and introducing yourself is an extremely successful way to strike up an exchange. By approaching her in a confident manner and avoiding the stunts so many other guys use to attract women, you'll really be setting yourself apart from the crowd. She'll be more than a little impressed with your straightforwardness and honesty.

3) Be Funny

Few things are as attractive to a woman as a sense of humor. Your ultimate objective when using this method should be to make her laugh. Remember to act in a slightly arrogant manner so that you build yourself up as a reward she should strive to earn for herself.

This technique is especially useful because you're not being obnoxious about the fact that you're attempting to win her affections. Rather, you're just having an enjoyable conversation where the goal is to amuse her.

While it's true that corny pick up lines are capable of getting a woman's attention, it's unlikely she'll give you her genuine interest. Instead of using them, you are better off considering your other options.

Next time you approach a woman, try using one of the above techniques. You will be surprised at how much more successful they are than corny pick up lines.

A humourous look at the trend in dressing your children in funny baby t-shirts and the physocological effects it can have.

by Catherine Harvey
What is it with people making a mockery of their kids these days? Anything that makes them look ridiculous, from the funny baby t-shirts to the weird haircuts and plain silly names, anything that draws attention to their child will suffice. Even if others are laughing at them rather than with them, they don't mind. Apparently all publicity is good publicity.

Whatever happened to babies being clean and tidy to be taken out in public? What's wrong with these old fashioned ideas? Why do we have to see them adorned in so many colours with slogans splashed all over funny baby t-shirts? They look like buckets of vomit rather than the cute little bundles of joy they're supposed to be.

And have you noticed that babies are getting louder? Remember the days when a baby would be in a position where it could see its mother, wrapped up in soft baby blankets all cute curls and clean smiles. There is no such thing these days.

Today you will see babies in luminous plastic buggies at car exhaust height dressed in buckets of puke that their parents pass off as funny baby t-shirts with their mouths wide open in a desperate bid to be heard above their t-shirts!

Celebrities are the main instigators in this fashion for drawing attention to their offspring in the weirdest ways. Michael Jackson may well have thought that his children were disguised in veils but how many children do you see normally dressed like that? They were never going to blend into the background now were they?

Another well know celebrity was seen out and about with her baby who must have been paid to advertise the Burberry brand. From the buggy to the sunshade to the baby bag to the baby clothes, from her clothes probably right down to her baby's nappy, all were the signature beige tartan of Burberry. Sad, but true. However, she did have the excuse of bordering on being a chav.

The only thing separating this celebrity from your average high street chav was her bank balance. Unfortunately, money cannot buy you good taste.

Take a walk round Basildon shopping precinct and you will see funny baby t-shirts galore. Simple slogans that the fifteen year old mothers can read, some that are even so funny they interact with their friends funny baby t-shirts. You know the sort - 'I'm with stupid', that sort of thing. Oh, bring on the Burberry, please!

Scientific research suggests that babies who are consistently dressed in funny baby t-shirts will grow up to be emotionally insecure due to people constantly pointing and laughing at them. They will also suffer hearing defects due to the loudness of their clothes and often require surgery for dislocated jaws where they have been trying to shout above them.

Statistics show that a staggering forty nine per cent of children forced to wear comedy clothes will grow up to be clinically depressed, a further nineteen per cent will run away with the circus and become clowns, seventeen per cent will become clinical psychologists in a bid to understand what made them that way and the remaining fifteen per cent will become estate agents (unofficial figures). To avoid cases of child cruelty being brought against you in later years, I suggest you avoid the trend for anything that will draw undue attention to your child.

Child care expert Catherine Harvey looks at the trend for funny baby t-shirts by mothers today.
www.highposition.net

Anti-aging is big business - which makes me wonder if wisdom really does come with age-ing.

by Knight Pierce Hirst
As baby boomers lose their boom, anti-aging is becoming big business. Baby boomers were born during the post WWII years of 1946 to 1966. Now, as baby boomers slow down, they're speeding up their search for the fountain of youth.

We all want to look younger. We try skin products, treatments and surgeries; but eventually we look in the mirror and realize that the fountain of youth is really a wishing well.

Pharmaceutical companies sell youth in bottles, jars and tubes. Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson and Revlon combined have invested $100 million in skin care products - but American companies aren't alone. Beierodorf, a German company, had a 21% increase in its sale of anti-aging products and Jade Pharmaceuticals, a Chinese company, is expecting to make $24 million in the first year of marketing its injectible, age-fighting treatment. Obviously, what baby boomers see as fine lines pharmaceutical companies see as fine line items.

As concerns about Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia grow, more Americans are using expensive and possibly dangerous supplements that claim to enhance memory. According to experts at the Institute of Brain Aging and Dementia, that's not necessary. We may have memory enhancers in our refrigerators. Brightly colored fruits and vegetables are rich in anti-oxidants, which protect cells from being damaged by oxidation and inflammation. A study done by the Institute found that participants who ate an oxidant-rich diet for several years were much better at performing certain tasks than those on a normal diet. Of course, the participants in the study were beagles; but if dogs can learn new tricks, so can we.

The University of Chicago did a study in which 28 thousand people between the ages of 18 and 88 were interviewed over a 32-year period. What the researchers discovered was the oldest Americans were the happiest. In fact, the odds of being happy increased 5% with every 10 years of age. These findings were attributed to older Americans being better able to accept that life isn't perfect. Maybe older Americans are old enough to know better.

Finally, according to a U.S. Government report, the number of older Americans will more than double to 70 million by 2030 - that's 1 in every 5 Americans. The same report said the net worth of people 65 and older has increased 80%. I think what the government is saying is Americans are getting older AND better.

If you're thirsty, Portland Oregon has a great selection of bars, pubs, saloons, and clubs. Here's a primer on the types of drinking establishments in Portland. From high style cocktail bars to your basic brewpubs - whatever you're drinking, cheers!

by Lorri Ely
If that is remotely the question, then chances are you've already decided you're thirsty. You're just a little unsure about choice of quenching venue. And that's where Portland, Oregon's array of abundant imbibing options can concoct a double-shot of confusion. But just a little information and a few recommendations will have your bottom down in the perfect place to bottoms up.

Of course, as if the act of drinking alcohol weren't responsible for a bit of confusion in its own right, common classification of modern drinking venues can disorient even the sober civilian. So first of all, a little clarification of terms is in order. Not to be considered the Encyclopedia Spiritanica by any stretch, the following taxonomy is shared simply to mitigate confusion by ensuring that the reader is on the same page as the writer. The following definitions are then mere observations, albeit ones determined after a sampling of the goods.

In the context of getting your drink on, a "bar" is the most generic of terms with an overarching meaning that encompasses everything from the small slab in the corner of a restaurant where one waits for a table to the longer variety boasting the dull patina of cigarette burns, forearm grease, and tears -where one waits for a life.

A "pub" connotes neighborhood and friendliness and perhaps more beer than bourbon. The food is comfort as is the mandate of style and dress.

A "club" is where you dress up to sweat and gyrate just long enough to find a partner to take home to sweat and gyrate with some more.

A "tavern" or "saloon" is where you go the next morning to forget about the fallout from the "club" you went to the night before.

So, if you're all dressed up and the course ahead calls for clubbing, a few of the more popular Portland options include the Bettie Ford Lounge, Barracuda, and Holocene. The first, Bettie Ford, is an L.A.-esque club experience complete with celebrity sightings. Barracuda offers large-scale beats on its 15,000 square foot dance floor, or you may cozy up behind one of their curtained cabanas upstairs. And Holocene is a popular Portland destination catering to the stylish club set, featuring local musicians and DJs as well as modern decor, a nice sized dance floor, and several separate spaces including an indoor area for smokers.

The Portland tavern category is nicely characterized by Lizzie's Slammer Tavern, where the caustic sass of its namesake proprietor just makes you want to stay–which is what she did, having started out there as a waitress 26 years ago. She bought the place for herself 12 years later, and the rest is an ongoing history with her beloved clientele and staff.

At the mention of the word, "saloon", one often might think of the wild west or at the very least a venue where a person engages in watching their back more than drinking their beer. However, a friendly alternative to such definitions can be found within the inviting atmosphere of the East Bank Saloon. The restaurant side of this establishment features a warm dining room of cool brick, wooden tables, and a grand piano. East Bank also boasts a terrific outdoor deck area and a menu offering culinary delights like portobello mushroom ravioli, halibut and chips, and prime rib.

And finally, in Portland, when you're talking pub, you're likely talking McMenamins. Forming a local chain of creative spaces, these pubs are no less than legendary for their tasty homemade brew and vittles as well their makeover of places like an elementary school and a crematorium (yes, a crematorium), rebirthing them into hotels, restaurants, movie theaters, and pubs, pubs, pubs.

One particular McMenamins location offers three floors of choices. Popular touring acts play several nights a week on the Crystal Ballroom tier, which boasts a 90-year-old "floating" dance floor that literally moves in rhythm with the crowd, a sensation that is not to be missed. Beneath the Ballroom, Lola's Room is a smaller venue that offers live music and D.J. mixes. And on the bottom floor is Ringlers, where you may sidle up to the mosaic-lined bar for a casual sip of whatever strikes your fancy.

Though these tips on taps are just those of an iceberg, they should satisfy at least a thirst for Portland knowledge. Cheers!

Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but charity makes the heart grow fonder of home and lots of other things.

by Knight Pierce Hirst
When we lived on the East Coast, my husband found out charity didn't begin next-door. That's where having a half acre of land inspired him to become a beekeeper. He had a hive, protective clothing and a smoker - but we never had honey. A neighbor sued my husband for creating "a nuisance caused by unleashed pets". The neighbor wasn't sweet on the idea of bees.

Then there was my cooking. Because I never cooked before I got married, I experienced a few culinary catastrophes. An experiment with food coloring resulted in green hamburger strogonoff. A tiny bit of egg yolk in the egg whites caused my first souffle not to rise to the occasion. Forgetting the eggs when I was determined to make a cake from scratch crumbled my expectations. Nevertheless, I never worried about my husband's reaction. He'd vowed in the eyes of God to keep me "for better or worse". For me that translated into " whom God has brought together let no half-baked manicotti put asunder".

Is it just me or should there be a charity for mothers? I think there should be an organization that protects mothers from working more than eight hours a day and that makes sure they have the necessary breaks and required meals. I know what the goals of this organization should be, but I don't know what to call it. Perhaps a motherized version of the United Way would do. "My Way" has a nice ring to it, but I'm not sure anyone would answer.

There were times when my sons were growing up and my husband was working long hours that I questioned if charity really began at home. Amid cooking, cleaning, laundry and carpools, I finally figured out what was wrong. I was the only woman in the house. Even if they tried, my husband and sons couldn't walk a mile in my heels.

Even though my family couldn't walk in my shoes, I thought they should follow my example in whatever footwear they had on. Clean up what you mess up should be sung to babies in lullabies. It should be taught to children when they're learning their ABC's and be on the test required for high school graduation. In fact, it should be part of the wedding vows. If everyone cleaned up what they messed up, Americans would be healthier. We'd have fewer pains in the neck.

There have been several names liked to the role Tintin in the new Tintin moive trilogy to be directed by Spielberg and Jackson. The English teenager Thomas Sangster is the latest young star to be believed to be given the role.

by Holly Franklin
The story linking Thomas Sangster to the Tintin Movie first appeared from what I can tell in the British press in the form of a story in the Daily Mail that later gained slightly more credence when it appeared in the better thought of Daily Telegraph.

The Telegraph wrote "Thomas Sangster, 17, who played the role of Liam Neeson's step son in Love Actually, had originally sent an audition tape to the Hollywood director hoping to snare a role in The Talisman, a project which never got off the ground

Whoever gets to play Tintin will become a big star as there are going to be three Tintin movies with the first scheduled for release in 2010. The Tintin name though not recognised in the USA as a major cartoon character does have huge following elsewhere.

In Europe he is extremely well acknowledged with as many as one in three households in France owning a Tintin album. Thomas Sangster if he were to get the role could end up as famous as Daniel Radcliffe another English actor who plays the rol of Harry Potter in The books by J. K. Rowling.

Instead Spielberg realised he had found the boy who could play Tintin, the young adventurer created by Belgian cartoonist and writer Georges Prosper Remi, better known by his pen name of Herge."
Taking into consideration the wording of the Telegraph article that this is still no more than a rumour I have looked into other sources including the obvious such as IMDB and cannot confirm for sure that Thomas Sangster is going to play Tintin.

Thomas Sangster is the latest in a list of actors who have been linked to the Tintin role that includes Kristin Myburgh, Simon Pegg and even Gwyneth Paltrow at one point!

Thomas Sangster is actually the cousin of Hugh Grant and lives in South London with his family. Sangster first appeared in the BBC television film The Adventure of Station Jim. He has developed quite reputation and won the award "Best Actor in a mini-series" at the Monte Carlo Film festival for his role in Entrusted. Thomas Sangster came to the movie going public's attention though for his much acclaimed performance as Liam Neeson's stepson in Love Actually.

He has gone onto appear in several films including "Nanny McPhee" and "Tristan and Isolde". Thomas is due to appear next in the film "The Fence" which is a holocaust based movie. Still the rumours about the Tintin movie role persist.

Thomas Sangster is going to be very popular search topic as the Tintin movie draws near. Holly Franklin has been a big Tintin fan for a number of years. She is very much looking forward to the new Tintin movie trilogy due for release in 2009.
http://www.financialspreadbettingreview.com/

Learn more about 10,000 BC and see if you may like to take a trip back through time.

by Kyle Newton
Of late, there have been very few examples of historical fiction in the film industry that go beyond just 200 years. Not very much history is explored in films, especially not in the action genre. However, this could be about to change.

Director Roland Emmerich, the director who brought us the films Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, Stargate, Universal Soldier, and Independence Day, brings us a vision a life in prehistoric times with the new prehistoric action film 10,000 B.C.

The film will star Steven Strait, perhaps best known for playing Warren Peace in the Disney superhero film Sky High, as DLeh, which is the German word Held, which means hero, backwards. The film will also star Camilla Belle as Evolet, DLeh's love interest.

According to the film's official synopsis: 21-year-old mammoth hunter D'Leh (Steven Strait), a member of a hunter-gatherer tribe living in 10,000 B.C. (at the end of the late Upper Paleolithic period), travels through unknown lands on a quest to rescue his people from extinction. Leading an army, D'Leh uncovers a lost civilization while in pursuit of a warlord who kidnapped his love, Evolet (Camilla Belle). D'Leh and his army encounter saber-toothed cats, mammoths and other prehistoric creatures in the journey to save his tribe.

Roland Emmerich's decision to cast lesser known actors and actresses in the film has greatly helped to keep the budget of the film reasonable. The decision was made in order to help keep the audience focused on the story instead of the actors. He stated that he felt the audience would look at the actors and then if something important would happen, they would focus back on the story saying What's that?.

This could be a very wise move on his part due to the fact that not too many successful films have been produced in the genre that Emmerich's film is. There have been very few attempts at making prehistoric action films, especially one of this scale.

The film is expected to have large, climactic battles evoking (unintentionally, it should be noted) some of the imagery of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and some of the previews have even helped reignite interest in the genre, reaffirming to many that there is still some wonder left in the world, even if it only comes from our past. 10,000 BC is expected to roar into theatres March 7.
